5.4.1 Types of Distribution Channels
5.4.1 Types of Distribution Channels
Overview
Distribution channels are the ways digital content, services, or products are shared with users. They allow people and organisations to connect, communicate, and exchange information quickly.
Cloud services let files and applications be stored online so users can access them anywhere with the internet.
Email is a fast and reliable way to send messages, files, and updates to individuals or groups.
Messaging apps, such as instant messaging, allow quick conversations between users, often in real time.
Mobile apps are programs that run on smartphones and tablets, giving users easy access to services like shopping, banking, or social media.
Multimedia includes videos, images, and audio that are shared across different platforms to engage audiences.
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) allows voice and video calls to be made over the internet, often at a lower cost than traditional phone lines.
Finally, websites provide an online space where information, services, or products can be accessed by anyone worldwide.
Technology in the news
Real-Life Example
Every time you watch a video or play online, that data comes from a data centre, like a big digital warehouse. The BBC says the UK plans to build around 100 more of these centres. That helps make internet speeds faster and more reliable.
Question: Are these new data centres fair if they use lots of electricity and water? Should there be special rules to protect the environment?
